WESTON — Breanna Yocum continued her stellar junior season by scoring eight goals. But despite her efforts, Pentucket lost to Weston, 18-12, in the Division 2 North semifinals last night.

April Surette racked up 22 big saves as Georgetown dropped Manchester Essex, 18-11, to advance to the Division 2 North second round. Shannon Hartford lived up to the hype while leading the offense with 11 points (six goals, five assists), and Kelly Burke chipped in a hat trick to go along with three assists. The Royals will face the winner of today's Pentucket-St. Mary's of Lynn tilt on Thursday..

Pentucket's girls lacrosse adnaced past the first round of the state tournament for the third straight year, defeating Tewksbury 23-18. Vanessa Cahill and Brianna Yocum both scored six goals for the Sachems (11-6), who will play St. Mary's in Lynn tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the next round, and Hillary Dandurant made 16 saves.

Emma Peditto tallied four goals and four assists for Triton (11-7). Natalie Sullivan netted four goals and an assist. Jill Gallagher (3 goals, 1 assist), Mac Scanlon (3 goals, 1 assist), Julie Parker (2 goals, 2 assists), Kaitlin Muller (2 goals), Erin Curley (2 goals), Jen Rock (1 goal, 3 assists), and Olivia Galivan (1 goal, 1 assist) also scored points. Kristin Roberts made nine saves.

The Sachems (9-6) beat the Clippers on their last regular season home game, 18-7, and gave fond farewells to seniors Zoe McKenzie, K.C. Jones, Sarah Evers, Kayla Jewett, Autumn Gadd, and Kayla Melville. Jones (5 goals and 2 assists), Brianna Yocum (3 goals and 1 assist), Jewett (2 goals and 1 assist), Stephanie Fitzgerald (2 goals and 1 assist), Vanessa Cahill (2 goals and 1 assist), Zoe McKenzie (1 goal and 1 assist), Shannon Beaton (1 goal), Valerie Grimm (1 goal), Sarah Kopaciewicz (1 goal), Sarah Evers (1 assist), and Sarah Higgins (1 assist) all recorded points in the win. Jones, Jewett, and Melville were named to the CAL All-Star team, and Yocum was named to the CAL All-League team.

Shannon Hartford tallied her 500th career point on the same day Georgetown clinched its third straight CAL Division 2 small title as the Royals downed North Reading, 13-8. Hartford finished with 11 points (six goals, five assists) while April Surette turned aside 15 shots to secure the win. Chandler Knight had a hat trick for the Hornets.

Despite coming out flat to start the game, Triton showed a lot fighting spirit coming from down three goals in the first half, battling in the first overtime before eventually falling in double OT. 

For the year in a row, Georgetown secured the out-right CAL Divsion 2 small title, and in the process Shannon Hartford (6 goals, 5 assists) secured her 500th career point. All in all a big day for the Royals.

Georgetown (11-5 overall, 9-4 Cape Ann League) clinched a share of the Cape Ann League Division 2 title with a 13-6 victory over Triton. Emma Cannon had three goals and three assists. Shannon Hartford added three goals and two assists. Kristin Pingree (2 goals, 2 assists), Kelly Burke (2 goals, 1 assist), Meghan Makiver (2 goals) and Michelle Reilly (1 goal, 1 assist) also scored points.

Goalie Hillary Dandurant made 11 saves.

Jen Rock tallied three goals and two assists for Triton (10-5). Jill Gallagher (3 goals, 1 assist), Julie Parker (2 goals), Mac Scanlon (2 goals), Nicole Lebel (2 goals), Erin Curley (1 goal), Kaitlin Muller (3 assists), and Olivia Gallivan (2 assists) keyed the offense. Kristin Roberts (19 saves) earned the victory in goal.

Kelly Burke scored six goals for Georgetown (10-5). Emma Cannon added three. Kristin Pingree (2 goals), Shannon Hartford (1 goal, 2 assists), Meghan Makiver (1 goal), Alyssa Rosenthal (1 goal), Kim Nowers (1 assist), and Brittany Moker (1 assist) keyed the offense. Goalie April Surrette made 17 saves — giving her a total of 34 in a span of two days.

Chloe Hundertmark and Molly Scully each had goals for Newburyport, and goalie Lilly Galzareno had a strong game with nine saves.

Kelly Burke tallied a team-high six points (four goals, two assists) and Shannon Hartford chipped in four (two goals, two assists) as Georgetown outlasted Manchester Essex in a narrow 13-11 victory. The story of the game, however, was the exceptional play of netminder April Surette, who made 17 saves.
