Georgetown stormed back from a halftime deficit to tie things up, but Marblehead rattled off a six-goal run to take charge and defeat the upset-minded Royals, 20-13, in Division 2 North first round action. In just her second year playing the game, senior Paige Murphy closed her career with another strong effort in net while Chelsea Burke, Marisa Agganis and Sammi Francesconi were also lauded by head coach Heather Hartford.

Super sophomores Liz Jayne and Kayla O'Connor each netted five goals and Laura Kuchar saved eight shots to lead Pentucket girls lacrosse to a 17-4 rout over North Reading. 

After losing this type of game five days before to Manchester Essex, Georgetown knew what it had to do to prevail this time against the Hornets. Kristen Pingree (six goals on the day) scored off a free play inside the eight-yard zone late in the second half to allow the Royals (8-8) to keep its tourney hopes alive with a 14-13 victory.

Michelle Reilly found the back of the net seven times to carry Georgetown to a 14-12 win over Lowell.

Pentucket's girls lacrosse team qualified for the state tournament for the fifth straight year with a satisfying 13-11 rain-soaked win over Triton, a team that had beaten the Sachems 15-14 — also in the rain — earlier in the year. Colleen Murray led the Sachems (8-5-1) with six goals and an assist while Kayla O'Connor added five goals and two assists.

Sophomores Liz Jayne and Kayla O'Connor scored seven goals each to lead Pentucket to a 18-13 victory over Hamilton-Wenham.  

Chelsea Burke scored the game-tying goal with 1:40 to go in regulation, then scored the game-winner with 37 seconds left as Georgetown edged Wilmington 12-11.

Olivia Boudreau scored five goals as North Andover held off upset-minded Newburyport, 13-11. Co-captain Bridget Kitchen came up big with 12 saves. The Knights can clinch the CAL Large title outright with a win over Masconomet Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Walsh Stadium.

Liz Jayne and Colleen Murray each scored four goals and Laura Kuchar made 15 saves for Pentucket in a 15-10 win over Newburyport.

Working off an isolation play, senior Kristen Pingree scored with just 20 seconds remaining to get Georgetown a huge 13-12 lacrosse victory over Masconomet, who was previously unbeaten in Cape Ann League play. "This was a total team effort," said coach Heather Hartford. "The girls really pulled together."

Phillips bounced back from a 7-4 deficit with a run of six unanswered goals, holding on at the end for a 10-8 lacrosse victory. Andover residents played key roles in the win as Summer Washburn had three goals and an assist to pace the offense while Haley Scott and Kellie Walsh stood out on the defensive end.

Sophomore Kayla O'Connor scored three goals, giving her 101 for her career as Pentucket whipped Georgetown 22-7. Senior Colleen Murray scored five times for the Sachems and Sarah Higgins and Shannon Beaton held Georgetown high scorr Kristen Pingree to just two goals.

Molly Gleason scored the 100th goal of her career but Haverhill girls lacrosse lost 18-14 to Pentucket.

Jaclyn Torres made her comeback from an injury with a pair of goals and Jaymi Cohen, Jackie Alois and Bridget Thibodeau anchored an impressive defense as Andover dumped Triton 17-7.

Kristen Pingree left it all out on the field for Georgetown, scoring eight goals, but Triton was able to overcome her efforts and prevail, 17-12. Nikki Perakis registered her first goal of the season and goalie Paige Murphy kept the Royals in the hunt with 12 big saves.
