Pentucket's Brandon Caan won his singles match (6-2, 6-2). B.G. Smith and Nick Giannino won at first doubles (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) for the Sachems (4-12). Justin Hackett and Cam Fowler won at second doubles (6-3, 6-3).

Newburyport's Nick Filipancic improved his record to 12-2 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Nick Ross (6-4, 6-0) and Matt Mogren (6-1, 6-0) also won singles matches for the Clippers (9-5).

B.G. Smith and Nick Giannino won their first doubles match (6-4, 6-2) for Pentucket (3-12). Cam Roberts and Brandon Conn won at second doubles (6-0, 3-6, 6-3).

Eli Egan-Anderson (6-4, 6-1), Matt Incontri (6-2, 6-2), and Josh Miller (6-0, 6-0) won their singles matches for Amesbury (7-10). James Cummings and Ben Uhlarik won at doubles (6-1, 6-0), as did Ben Lloyd and Adrian Bazenas (6-0, 6-0).

The Clippers (8-5) clinched a tournament berth for the second consecutive season. Nick Filipancic improved his individual record to 11-2 with a victory in first singles (6-0, 6-0). Nick Ross (6-1, 6-2) and Matt Mogren (6-0, 6-1) also won their singles matches. Charlie Knowlton and Ryan Keene won at first doubles (6-1, 7-6). Trevor Updike and Hunter Seabrook won at second doubles (6-4, 6-4).

Eli Egan-Anderson (6-1, 6-2), James Cummings (3-6, 6-3, 6-2), Ben Uhlarik (6-7, 6-1, 6-3), the team of Matt Incontri and Ben Lloyd (6-2, 6-4), and the team of Adrian Bazenas and Kyle Bell (6-1, 7-6) all won for Amesbury.

Nick Filipancic (6-3, 6-4) improved to 10-2 on the season for Newburyport despite the team's loss.

Against the more talented North Andover side, freshman Pat Dahn (6-4, 3-6, 2-6) perfomed quite well for Pentucket.

Amesbury picked up its third win of the season with a strong performance over Wilmington. No. 1 singles Eli Egan-Anderson (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 singles James Cummings (4-6, 6-3, 6-1), No. 1 doubles Matt Incontri and Ben Uhlarik (6-0, 6-2), and No. 2 doubles Ben Lloyd and Kyle Bell (6-3, 6-4) all had wins for the Indians.

Newburyport cleaned house with a nice sweep of Triton, 5-0.  Tony Dube and Hunter Seabrook (6-2, 6-1) played the match of the day for the Clippers at second doubles.

B.G. Smith and Nick Giannino (1-6, 6-4, 4-6) took their second doubles match to three sets for Pentucket (3-9).

"They were more aggressive after losing that first set," said Pentucket coach Christian Langlois said. "They almost pulled it out."

The first doubles team of Matt Incontri and Ben Uhlarik (6-2, 6-1) and the second doubles team of Ben Lloyd and Adrian Bazenas (7-6, 7-5) notched Amesbury's (4-9) two wins.

Rebounding from a tough loss earlier in the week to North Reading, Newburyport played some of its best tennis of the season, according to coach Neil Reardon, to beat the traditionally strong Lynnfield team.

Three local players are enjoying fine seasons for the Bunker Hill Community College baseball team, which won the MCAC with a 12-1 record and is 20-8 overall as the No. 2 seed in this weekend's regional. Haverhill third baseman Rafael Munoz hit .483 and had six home runs with 47 RBIs, which is ranked 10th nationally, Lawrence's Ruben Sosa, playing second base, hit .466 and was ranked second nationally in stolen bases with 39 and Haverhill's Pat MacShain hit .396 with six home runs.

Tied going into the final match, Chris Coroniti rallied to take No. 3 singles 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 and earn North Reading a 3-2 win over Newburyport.
