Pentucket senior Noah Malhi continued to steamroll the opposition, winning the 195-pound title at the Cape Ann league/Northeast Conference meet Saturday.

The Sachems, who finished sixth as a team, also had three runners-up in Kyle Knox (145), Kalon Boston and Devin Young.

Central Catholic senior Dan Doherty, who had a big pin against Chelmsford earlier in the week, had three pins in the Raiders' easy quad-meet sweep to improve to 17-4 on the year. Nolan Donovan was 2-0 with two pins at 160 to improve to 29-1 on the year and Tom Pagliarulo was 3-0 with two pins to improve to 32-2. Central improved to 17-1 on the season.

Andover's field hockey team dominated play but had to settle for a 0-0 tie against Beverly Wednesday afternoon. Goalie Meg Hartnett only had to make one save for the Warriors (16-1-1).

About six holes into his round at the Division 2 North Sectional Monday, North Andover High senior Jack McKay nearly buckled.

“I’m coming off a double-bogey, headed to one of the toughest, longest par-3s you’ll play (236-yard 16th at Hillview Country Club in North Reading), and three groups are stacked up,” said McKay. “It’s got to be 35 degrees out, and I have to sit in the cold for 20 minutes with nothing to think about but that double.”

The Andover girls lacrosse team dominated the first half en route to another convincing tournament win, beating Beverly 14-4. Jordan Torres had four goals and Caroline Curtin and Veronica Alois each had hat tricks in the game.

Senior defenseman Corey Collins scored his first career goal in the previous game and then scored two more Monday as North Reading clipped Beverly 4-1.

Meghan Gemmell, Jillian Hughes, Kat Vieira, Emma Farnham and Kat Devaney scored and Andover field hockey roughed up Beverly 5-0.

HAVERHILL — The momentum had completely shifted to the visitor’s sideline.

Resuming Saturday’s lightning-suspended game against Beverly High on Sunday morning, the Haverhill football team watched the visiting Panthers score on their first two possessions to tie the score with eight-and-a-half minutes to play.

North Reading/Lynnfield, if it remains a co-op, could get used to this. It came in first in the Cape Ann League/Northeast Conference meet for the second straight year, finishing more than 50 points ahead of runner-up Masconomet.
