The Triton softball team bounced back from Monday's loss to North Reading with a convincing 17-5 win over Hamilton-Wenham. The Vikings finish the season 16-2 and should now be among the top seeds when the state tournament pairings are announced on June 5.

Offensive explosion

Newburyport softball hammered Hamilton-Wenham 26-14 on Friday, scoring nine runs in the first, six runs in the second and 10 in the fourth to easily win in five innings. Annie Siemasko picked up her first win on the mound while going 3 for 4 with four runs and three RBIs, Madison Duford went 2 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Olivia Salvatore went 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBIs.

Vikings downed in extras

Triton and Hamilton-Wenham baseball battled it out for nine full innings, but the Generals wound up walking off with the 3-2 extra inning win. Andrew Maiuri allowed just one earned run over five innings, and then Tommy Lapham allowed one over three in relief to keep the Vikings in the game. Cole Lojek also went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Marc Wood and Tyler Godfrey scored Triton's runs.

O'Donnell strikes out 10

Emily O'Donnell had a huge day on the mound for Amesbury, allowing just one unearned run on six hits over seven innings while striking out 10 in a 10-1 win over Hamilton-Wenham. Hayley Catania went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and a run scored, Emma DiPietro went 1 for 2 and scored three runs, and Julia Campbell also scored three runs in the game.

Donoghue's blistering start

Gerogetown's Caitlin Donoghue has gotten off to a ridiculous start. Through four games she is hitting .733 with two home runs, two doubles, eight runs and seven RBIs. Wednesdady was no different, as she went 3 for 3 with a home run and a double along with three runs and three RBIs to help lead the Royals to a 10-8 win over Hamilton-Wenham. Kate Irons and Maeve McNeil also had home runs and Colleen O'Connor pitched a complete game for the win.
