Hood, Silveira seal Astros win

Pinkerton trailed 1-0 at the half but was undeterred, spilling Concord, 2-1, in double overtime.

With one minute left in the second extra session, Emily Hood sent in a corner kick that Kayla Silveira knocked in to decide it. Hood also netted the first Astros goal to force the overtimes.

Jaelyn Crossman scored two first-period goals, and Hannah Lisauskas netted her first varsity goal as Pinkerton won its home-opener, 3-0 over Timberlane. Elise LeBlanc made five saves for the winners, one on a corner.

Doyle leads way to state title

MANCHESTER – With eight swings and misses since 2013, the state baseball tournament has not been kind to Pinkerton Academy’s program.

In Saturday afternoon’s title game, the second-seeded Astros had another crack at border-rival nemesis Londonderry, which knocked off Pinkerton each of the previous two tournaments and half of those eight years including the 2014 championship match.

Pinkerton volleyball scores tourney upset

Zach Youkstetter scored 19 digs, and No. 10-seeded Pinkerton delivered an all-around offensive effort to upset No. 7 Winacunnet 3-0 in the New Hampshire first round. Adam Freiburger added seven kills and three blocks and John Collins had 12 assists for the Astros, who will travel to No. 2 Hollis-Brookline on Tuesday (6 p.m.)

Maddie Schoenenberger and Aby Alexander each drove in two runs as Pinkerton beat Bedford 5-3 in the Division I Quarterfinals. Ashleigh Lemay locked down the win with two innings of no-hit relief for the Astros, who will next face Exeter on Wednesday at Plymouth State (7 p.m.)

Albert delivers walkoff, Pinkerton advances

Jacob Albert's seventh inning infield grounder with the bases loaded plated Lorenzo Corsetto with the game-winning run as No. 2 Pinkerton earned a walk-off 2-1 victory over No. 7 Winnacunnet in the Division I Quarterfinals. Tommy Rioux had an RBI triple in the fourth and Liam Doyle stuck out 10 and didn't allow an earned run for the Astros, who will face No. 6 Exeter in the semis on Wednesday (4 p.m.) at Holman Stadium in Nashua.

Gibeault, Astros advance with walkoff

Madi Gibeault delivered a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh as No. 5 Pinkerton rallied for four runs in the final inning to earn a 10-9 walkoff win over No. 12 Bedford in the Division I first round. Leadoff hitter Lily Mason was 4 for 4 with three RBIs, Maddie Schoenenberger was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run and Aby Alexander scored twice for the Astros, who host No. 13 Bedford on Saturday (4 p.m.)
