NASHUA —  For four quarters, Salem gave the No. 1-ranked team in New Hampshire, Nashua North, all it could handle. And with 5:02 left in the game, the Blue Devils took over 88 yards from an upset, and a trip to their first state championship game since 2009.

Bobby DiCicco and Mike Montanile scored to give Windham a 2-0 lead. Vito Mancini (16 saves) made sure it held up as the 7th-seeded Jaguars topped No. 10 Nashua North-Souhegan, 2-1, in the Division 1 tourney first round. Windham will play No. 2 Bedford Saturday (1 p.m., at St. Anselm) in the quarterfinals.

Joseph Bodenrader and Ryan Pappalardo each notched a hat trick as Salem rolled past Nashua North 8-2.

Pinkerton's girls used its defense to put down Nashua North, 50-36. Jesse Ames led the Astros (8-3) offensively with 16 points.

It's tough to steal the spotlight from some of his talented teammates but Salem junior George Boudreau may have done just that Saturday.

Boudreau upset No. 1 seed Jesese Brochu of Biship Guertin in overtime to help spark the Blue Devils to second at the Nashua South Invitational. For the his efforts, Boudreau was named the tourney Outstanding Wrestler.

WIll Brown was the Wrestler of the Day for Pinkerton with two first period pins as the Astros improved to 3-1 with a pair of sual-meet wins.

Ethan Burgess and Brett Levesque both scored twice as Pinkerton hockey edged Nashua North 4-3 for its first win of the season.

The Salem wrestling team used six pins, the quickest from junior George Boudreau at 145 pounds (1:07), to roll past Nashua North, 52-24. Boudreau stayed a perfect 6-0 on the young season with the win, as did heavyweight Josh Ozoria.

Salem field hockey picked up its first win of the season, taking down Nashua North 5-0. Chloe Sicard provided the bulk of the offense for the Blue Devils with three goals.

Alida Bates earned the free kick herself, then blasted a shot from just outside the 18 that got a bounce and found the back of the net, sending the Timberlane girls soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win over Nashua North.
