Windham skates into semis

Chad Desautels scored twice as Windham boys hockey won 5-3 over Bow to earn a trip to the Division 2 semifinals at 7:30 p.m. in Exeter on Wednesday.

After several years as a co-op team with Pelham, Windham hockey is making its debut season. The Jaguars showed they are more than up to the challenge by opening with a 3-1 win over defending Division 2 state runner-up Bow. Patrick Higgins, Chad Desautels and Domenic Bruzzese scored. Christian Bassi had 29 saves.

Senior Jordan Parece threw a one-hitter, striking out what coach Todd Lozeau says may be a school record 17 batters, as Pelham opened its season with a 4-1 victory over Bow. Freshman Sarah Ratcliffe was the offensive star, going 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Sanborn out in Division 3 state semis

The amazing run by the 14th-seeded Sanborn Regional boys finally came to an end, but not after an amazing scoreless tussle with No. 2 Bow, that went all 100 minutes into penalty kicks.
The Indians, who stunned both the No. 3 and 6 teams on the ride into Merrimack Valley last night, came up just short as Bow advanced to the Division 3 state title game, 1-0. They finish the year at 11-9 and say goodbye to a stellar senior class including Shaun Howard, Jon Brown, Brendan Mahoney, Tyler Peterson, Jared L’Antigua, Jackson Rowell, Kyle Lord, Kevin White, Sean Foster, and Abe Scully.

Pelham takes second

Behind a sparkling 71 by Jake Vaiknoras, Pelham took second at the New Hampshire Division 3 championship with a 337, behind just No. 1 Bow (301).

"That is the best finish Pelham has ever had," said Pythons coach Joe Vaiknoras. "We were third last year and graduated three of our top four guys. So they are just thrilled."
