Pelham closes out regular season undefeated with big win

With its undefeated regular season record on the line, Pelham almost made it look too easy.

Joe Slattery completed all four of his pass attempts, three for touchdown passes to Zach Conway, and ran a kickoff back for a touchdown as the Pythons closed out the regular season 8-0 with a 44-34 win over Farmington.

Sanborn 2, Farmington 1

At halftime, Sanborn soccer coach Al Magnusson told his squad that the best way to beat the Farmington defense was to play the ball into the offensive corner then cross into the box for a clean shot. About 20 minutes into the half, the Indians tried the strategy and succeeded as Sean Foster's feed from the corner found Jordan Johnson wide open behind the goalie. The senior found the mark for the game-winner in a 2-1 victory.

Sanborn back in semis

 

Sanborn now has exactly what it wants — a rematch in the Class M semifinals against Campbell.

The Indians (17-2), who fell to Campbell in last year's semis and suffered two close losses to Campbell during the regular season, advanced with a solid 5-0 win over Farmington. Stacie Blades threw a two-hitter for the win and veteran seniors Morgan Farmer (2 for 3), Cara Carter and Krissi Romano (2 for 3) all had RBIs. Leadoff batter Nicole Foster had two hits and scored twice.
