LAWRENCE — The Joel Berroa All-Scholastic defensive tour continues, much to the delight of the folks at Central Catholic.

NORTH ANDOVER — The fight just wasn't a fair one, and Lynn English exploited it.

The Bulldogs, behind their healthy star quarterback Jermaine Kelley, laid claim to the Cape Ann League/Northeastern Conference Division 1 crown, rapping North Andover and hobbled senior signal-caller Brandon Walsh, 24-13, at a chilly Walsh Stadium.

Senior Night was a successful one for the three seniors — Mike O'Boyle, Andrew Burns and Neal Rooney — on North Reading boys lacrosse.

LAWRENCE — The Bangles might have been big fans of Manic Mondays, but Central Catholic couldn’t have been happier to get its game with Lynn English last night under control.

Playing for the TD Bank/IAABO Board 130 Classic title, the frenetic style of the visiting Bulldogs was infectious for the Raiders, but not in a good way.

LYNN - A little luck, a little bit of guts, a little quarterback and a whole lot of gritty defense lifted Lawrence High to opening-night, 13-9, shocker over Lynn English, the 18th-rated team in Eastern Mass.

Despite a fantastic day in net from Pat O'Leary, two third-period goals did in Methuen and sent Lynn English to a 3-1 victory. Senior Pat Lucey's hustle up front helped keep the Rangers (1-2-2) in the hunt.

LAWRENCE — In a game in which both teams combined for over 800 total yards and nearly 80 points, the Lawrence Lancers could not come up with the three yards it needed late in the game on a two point conversion attempt in a 38-40 loss to Lynn English.

LOWELL - Lynn English accomplished what no other Bay State team could this year. The Bulldogs flustered Central Catholic to the point of bewilderment.

Forcing 30 Raider turnovers, including 16 on steals, English ended Central's bid for a state championship repeat with a gate-to-wire 71-60 victory before about 4,000 fans in the Division 1 North title game at Tsongas Arena.
