Tyler Ardito scored twice as Andover played Lowell to a 3-3 tie.

Sophia Miele tallied 18 service points, five aces and 10 digs as Andover opened its season with a 3-1 win over Acton-Boxboro. Maddie Robertson added 16 service points and three aces and Marissa Kobelski had 13 kills and two blocks for the winners.

Noah Farland was the medalist with a 34, winning at No. 1 (4-and-3) to lead Andover to a 19-1 season-opening win over Methuen. Brendan Carroll was next best for the Golden Warriors with a 38. Ryan McKinnon led Methuen, tying at No. 2 with a 42.

No. 4 Andover girls tennis suffered its first loss of the season, falling to No. 5 Winchester 5-0 in the Division 1 Round of 8. The Golden Warriors finished the season 20-1.

Abhay Yajurvedi and Nik Narina won No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Nate Gellman and Conor Rea took No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2 as Andover edged Boston Latin 3-2 in the Division 1 Round of 32. Joe Colecchi added a win at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1) for the Golden Warriors, who now await the winner of Brookline and Malden which will be played on Tuesday.

HAVERHILL – Not long ago, things looked bleak for the Haverhill boys volleyball squad. With a Covid outbreak and injuries dragging them down, the Hillies were hovering around the .500 mark entering the second week of May.

Brian Gibson's perfect suicide squeeze plated 2 runners as Andover defeated Penntucket  2-0 in the consolation Game of the Jim Genoulis  Peabody Tournament. Chase Lembo was the winning pitcher throwing a complete game shutout, striking out 6.

Tess Gobiel scored a game-high six goals as Andover topped Methuen 17-13. Kiera Fitzpatrick led the Rangers with five goals.

Andover boys capped an undefeated MVC campaign winning its 11th straight with a 5-0 victory over North Andover. The Warriors enter the postseason having won 14 of its 16 matches. Andrei Giurgiu got Andover started with an epic 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-7 win at No. 1 singles. Things went easier for Joe Colecchi and Akarsh Janarthanan who combined to win 24 of their combined 27 sets.

Chase Lembo was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored and was the winning pitcher as Andover topped Newton North 8-4. Evan Brenner, John Besette and Joe Bucci each added two RBIs for the winners.
