Three unanswered second half goals later, the Astros improved to 7-0 to remain perfect this season. Pinkerton was led by Mike Wanelik (two goals) and Kenny Kolbeck (two assists).

Brian O’Reilly and his Pinkerton Astros left the Queen City with a solid sense of satisfaction, polishing off Manchester West before the snack-bar hot cocoa had a chance to simmer, 34-13, last night.

Varsity call-up Brian Smart made a sparkling debut, scoring the deciding goal in Salem's 1-0 win over Manchester West. Junior goalie Taylor Morin (4 saves) also made his first varsity start, spelling injured Ethan Carr.

Getting to work early

Salem soccer junior Bridget Klecan scored in the first minute and the Blue Devils made it stand up for the remaining 79 minutes of a 1-0 win at Manchester West.

Hanna Collins recorded nine kills and Megan Schwarz added eight as Londonderry topped Manchester West, 25-10, 25-18, 25-21. Katie Schwarz added 19 service points to help the Lancers improve to 2-0.

Siobhan Lundt scored twice to help Timberlane down Manchester West, 3-1. Sam Weidman also scored a goal while Brittany McFarland-Bateman needed to make only two saves in the win.

Pinkerton downed Manchester West 25-6, 25-16 and 25-11. Kacie Connal had eight kills while Kenna Finlayson and Kelsey McKechnie notched five kills apiece. McKechnie also recorded 13 service points.

Defending Class L champion Salem opened its season by blasting Manchester West 25-5, 25-15, 25-11. Becca Weiss was a force with six aces and five kills while Amanda Saab had eight kills and Nicole Boucher had a fine all-around game.

Timberlane trampled Manchester West 106-38. Cole Dresser won three events. Cam Lyle launched both the shot put and the discus for wins.

The dice came up with a pair of nines for the Timberlane wrestling team at the Division 1 state meet yesterday, and they were big winners.

The Owls, thanks to a shocking 9-for-9 performance in the semifinals earlier in the day, cruised to their ninth straight Division 1 crown in resounding fashion.
