No. 13 Timberlane stunned No. 4 Bishop Guertin 11-5 in opening-round action. Dan Armstrong, who went 3 for 3, scored twice and drove in four runs, cracked a big two-run triple in the sixth. Brendan Heinze drove in three runs. It was an eventual day for winning pitcher Jake Siemering, who walked eight, hit a batter and gave up eight hits. But when it mattered most, he buckled down and got the job done.

Coach Jamie Fish said, "I don't have much hair left! God bless him (Siemering), it was a gutsy effort on his part."
