Bishop Fenwick's Mike Clifford was the MVP of the Nashoba Holiday Tournament. It was easy to see why.
Clifford, the Crusaders' 6-foot-7 junior, collected 28 points and 23 rebounds to lead his team to the title with a 68-60 win over host Nashoba Saturday. Bishop Fenwick improved to 2-2 in the process.
Junior guard Nolan DiPanfilo also made the all-tourney team for Bishop Fenwick after chipping in 23 points. Still, this wasn't an easy game for the Crusaders, who trailed by a point with under three minutes remaining. However, Phil Eagan came up with a timely 3-point play to swing the game back to Bishop Fenwick.
"It gave us the momentum we needed," Bishop Fenwick assistant coach Mike Kane said of Eagan's basket. "We made some stops in the final two minutes and made some free throws to put it away."
