Salem's softball team opened its season with a 2-1 win over Memorial, thanks to an 11-strikeout two-hitter by Katelyn Arsenault and two key defensive plays. In the sixth, Rachel Morrissey started a double play with a catch in center field and a relay via Emily O'Brien to third for a double play. In the seventh, Sam Cloutier made a brilliant diving stop at shortstop and threw out the runner.
