Odds and ends: Phillips opened last week with a  6-4 win over Middlesex and then suffered a 20-7 loss to powerful Nobles. Junior Emily Little scored a hat trick in the opener. ... Goalie Kaitlin Gaiss is the sister of freshman Ryan Gaiss, who enjoyed a fine rookie season on the varsity wrestling team.

Coach Kate Dolan (11th year, 114-23-3): "We graduated everyone from our team last year so we have to wait and see what we have this year. We had tryouts and then two weeks off so it is hard to see what we have. Goalkeeping will be a strength as we return both of our goalies from last year."
