NEWBURY — Brooks couldn't contain a talented Governor's Academy team, falling in its season opener 42-15.
Newburyport's Quin Stott was the star for Governor's. The senior running back piled up four rushing touchdowns, including the first two of the game to help Governor's open up an eventual 22-0 lead.
Brooks cut it to 21-7 late in the second quarter when QB Connor Silva hit Kobe Briand for a 35-yard touchdown, but that's as close as it would get.
Silva (13 of 22, 191 yards, 2 TDs) found John Fritz on a 75-yard bomb in the fourth quarter for Brooks' other score.
Brooks will look for its first win at home against Groton Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
