Though his team trailed 44-10 entering the fourth quarter, Pingree quarterback Carlos O'Donnell didn't hang his head. Instead, he unleashed three TD passes as the Highlanders scored 28 unanswered points but fell just short, 44-38, against Holderness.

"We played a terrific fourth quarter," said Highlanders coach Chris Powers. "As poorly as things went in the third, to see them come out and make the plays they did in the fourth quarter was great."

O'Donnell completed 21 of 32 passes for 281 yards and four TDs on the afternoon. Pingree fell behind early after allowing two special teams touchdowns and fumbling on the 1-yard line. The Highlanders' offense responded in the late stages of the game with O'Donnell finding Lemerre Rey for a 12-yard scoring strike with 1:42 remaining.

Pingree (2-2) appeared to recover the onsides kick but the officials ruled they'd used illegal procedure and Holderness was able to run out the clock to hang on.
