ANDOVER — For all but 39 seconds, Phillips' defense dictated the course of yesterday's meeting with Choate. But the Hoggers pulled even in the final minute of regulation and one overtime wasn't enough to settle the issue for the Big Blue.
"This is dissapointing," said Phillips head coach Leon Modeste. "You aren't going to win too many games when you turn the ball over (five) times."
"I am very proud of the way our defense played today. Heck they even turned in a touchdown," added Modeste.
That defensive toucdown came in the third quarter when Chris Higgins picked off a pass and took it 63 yards into the end zone. Also on defense, Zach Boyd had nine tackles and Bobby Vardaro added five.
The Big Blue (3-1) trailed 6-0 in the second quarter when quarterback Andre Vailes connected with Ed vahn Kuhn on a five-yard touchdown. But that was it for the offense, who was shutout the rest of the way.
"The offense needs to regroup and we will hopefully take a win on the road (next week)," said Modeste.
