Last year's record: 15-3-2

Coach: Len Emmons (36th season)

Returning players: Kevin VanLentin, Sr., Def.; Ian Gelinos, Sr., Def.; Tyler Bodengraven, Sr., F; Ali Olia, Sr., F; John Miller, So., Mid; Bradley McDonald, Jr., Mid; Brian Connery, Jr., Mid.

Strengths: Quickness and team speed will be a big factor. The Chieftains have 10 seniors and a good group of underclassmen, although many of them have yet to be tested. However, Masco has a proven track record under Emmons, who has 509 career wins and has guided his team to the state tourney 34 times in 35 years.

Concerns: The entire defense, plus the goaltender, graduated in June, so that part of the team needs to be rebuilt. The Chieftains' first four games are tough, including the opener at defending state champion St. John's Prep.

Coach's outlook: "We've won the league five years in a row and we'd like to win it for an unprecedented sixth time. Our chances of making the state tournament are pretty strong."
