Wildcats start busy week

Whittier Tech's girls basketball team opened a busy week with a 59-45 loss to a tough Everett team. The Wildcats (17-4) play Dracut at 7:30 p.m. today and then open the Voke tournament tomorrow at 6 p.m. at home against Shawsheen. Jen Hinds had nine rebounds to spark the 'Cats against Everett while Danielle Martin led the scoring with 11 points.

Title time for Whittier

Jenn Hines scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to help Whittier wrap up the Commonwealth Athletic Conference regular season title with a 66-42 win over Shawsheen. Danielle Martin added 12 as the Wildcats (16-3) put four players in double figures. Kendra Brasil added 11 and Christina Medley scored 10.

Just over a month removed from coaching the football team to the first Super Bowl championship in program history, Bradley earned his 200th career victory as Wildcats girls basketball coach last night in a 65-54 win over Greater Lawrence.

Wildcats rewarded for dues paid

After a five-year drought, Whittier qualified for the state tournament with its 56-49 defeat of Minuteman.

"This is a big deal for the seniors that absolutely paid their dues and worked hard to get where they are," first-year head coach Tom Sipsey said. "They should be proud of their effort."
