Nikki Karalis added seven points, including North Andover's only 3-pointer, and Katie Maroney shut down Newburyport's leading scorer in addition to recording four points.

The Newburyport (3-6) girls lost to North Andover last night, 50-37. The score was 29-12 at the half in favor of North Andover. Sam Baribeault scored 15 points, and Caitlyn Hill had nine for the Clippers.

Danielle Fournier provided a spark off the bench, scoring all five of her points as North Andover built an eight-point lead on its way to downing Amesbury 35-26. Fournier finished with seven rebounds and Jackie Sullivan stood out while tying for the team-high with seven points.

Lynnfield converted on a field goal with five seconds left to down North Andover 44-42. The Scarlet Knights shot just 21 percent from the floor as opposed to 41 percent for Lynnfield, and took the loss despite holding Lynnfield scoreless in the second quarter.

The junior point guard deftly guided Pinkerton to a 46-34 win over North Andover last night in the semifinals of the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament. She finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

North Andover finds itself in a drastically different place than it did last year at this time. After dispatching the Lancers with ease, the Scarlet Knights are 3-0.

“This is fabulous for us,” Breen said. “This is awesome. We’ll take it.”

Danielle Fournier and Bri Connolly scored 10 points each and Fournier grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the North Andover girls basketball team to a 48-15 win ovr Rockport. It was the first varsity points scored by both players.

The North Andover girls basketball team bested Wilmington, 48-40, to open the season on a high note. The Scarlet Knights were led by returning Eagle Tribune All-Star Nicole Zahoruiko, who had 11 points and nine rebounds. Nikki Karalis recorded a team-high 14 points, and Katie Moroni finished with 12 boards.
