Knights trounce Newburyport

Nicole Zahoruiko poured in 25 points, half of the Knights' total output, and also nabbed 14 boards as the North Andover girls basketball team topped Newburyport, 50-37. Nikki Karalis added seven points, including North Andover's only 3-pointer, and Katie Maroney shut down Newburyport's leading scorer in addition to recording four points.

The Newburyport (3-6) girls lost to North Andover last night, 50-37. The score was 29-12 at the half in favor of North Andover. Sam Baribeault scored 15 points, and Caitlyn Hill had nine for the Clippers.

Astros roll into final

Methuen: North Andover's, Julia Titone blocks Pinkerton's, (#15) Laura Pierce's shot in semifinal action of the Greater Lawrence Girls Christmas Basketball Tournament held at Methuen High School Tuesday night. The junior point guard deftly guided Pinkerton to a 46-34 win over North Andover last night in the semifinals of the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament. She finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Scarlet Knights take opener

The North Andover girls basketball team bested Wilmington, 48-40, to open the season on a high note. The Scarlet Knights were led by returning Eagle Tribune All-Star Nicole Zahoruiko, who had 11 points and nine rebounds. Nikki Karalis recorded a team-high 14 points, and Katie Moroni finished with 12 boards.
