HUDSON N.H. — As the Alvrine Bronco marching band played on as its players celebrated a playoff berth for the first time since 2000, the Timberlane Owls across the field huddled together for the final time this season as Timberlane fell to Alvrine 32-7.

PLAISTOW, N.H. —- Timberlane's defense started slowly before stiffening up and its offense rolled for four quarters in a 47-20 trouncing of winless Spaulding (0-9).

The victory lifted the Owls to 4-3 in Division 2 (4-5 overall) and sets up a showdown at Alvirne next Friday, the winner of which will advance to the Division 2 playoffs.

EXETER — The story was simple and straightforward, almost as direct as Exeter's relentless running attack.

Timberlane owned the field position battle in the first half against the undefeated Blue Hawks and also, behind the intuitive play of defensive tackle Teddy Gulezian, kept Exeter bottled up in its own end and forced five punts.

PLAISTOW, N.H. — Maybe it was justice that neither Timberlane star Derek Furey nor Salem standout Max Jacques was involved in the last play of the game.

Because in what turned out to be a thrilling, heart-stopping 35-34 overtime win for the unbeaten Blue Devils (6-0), the Furey-Jacques duel pretty much ended in a draw.

KEENE, N.H. —Derek Furey and the Tinberlane defense were not hampered by the wet conditions yesterday.

Furey rushed for 221 yards and scored the game's only touchdown, and the defense took care of Keene in dominant fashion in an impressive 7-0 victory, lifting the Owls to 3-2 overall, 3-1 in Division 2.

PLAISTOW, N.H. — In an early season of statement games, Bishop Guertin traveled to Timberlane last night and issued yet another.

Controlling both sides of the line of scrimmage, the Cardinals ran the ball at will and locked down Owl standout running back Derek Furey. Even their second and third-stringers couldn't be kept from the end zone. The 47-6 trouncing likely clears the last major hurdle from the Cardinals' unbeaten path in Division 2 until their regular season finale against Exeter.

PLAISTOW, N.H. — Merrimack found out last night what happens when Timberlane senior Derek Furey gets some running room.

Limited to 115 yards over Timberlane’s first two games, as teams keyed on his every move, Furey broke loose for 212 yards and scored all six Owl TDs in a 41-21 romp over the Tornadoes.

DOVER, N.H. — The kicking of Jarred Diorio and a bend-but-not-break defense translated into a 6-0 victory for Timberlane last night.

Diorio booted 35-yard field goals in both the third and fourth quarters to account for all of Timberlane’s points.

NASHUA, N.H. Trailing by three with 4:55 left to play, and facing a 4th-and-3 from its opponent’s 8-yard line, Timberlane coach Kevin Fitzgerald made the decision to send out his field goal team to tie the game. But, after calling a time out, he reversed his position and sent out his offense and try to take the lead.
