Galvin, Devils nearly perfect

SALEM, N.H. — For a first-round tournament game, it wasn’t quite perfect, but it was close enough for senior pitcher Nora Galvin and the No. 2-seed Salem softball team.

Galvin took a perfect game into the fifth inning before settling for a five-inning 14-0 Class L first round no-hitter over an overmatched Timberlane squad.

Owl frosh delivers

Timberlane freshman Brenna Hamilton allowed just five hits and won her first varsity start as the Owls rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 win over Keene. Hamilton also had a key single in the seventh. Jess Barrett was 3 for 4 with and RBI.

The first two batters in Salem's batting order, sophomores Sarah Frahm and Stephanie Long, were 7 for 9 as the Blue Devils ripped Timberlane 10-1. Frahm scored twice and Long had four RBIs.

Rookie delivers

 

Samantha Corey, in her second varsity start, hurled a nifty two-hitter, striking out 12, as Londonderry nipped Timberlane 2-0. Sam Nitso had two run-scoring hits for the Lancers (6-3).

Electric Owls

 

Lindsay Raumikaitis delivered a sizzler on the mound, striking out five in a three-hit shutout for Timberlane, which stung Exeter, 6-0. Chelsea Mattinson two-run single in the third, providing all the offense the Owls would need.
