The popular Jon Spohn Tournament, named for the first Salem High wrestler to reach 100 wins, takes place Sunday, Jan. 9 at Salem High School. The popular youth tourney, for grades K-8, has 350 participants from all over New England and is a qualifier for the Tournament of Champions nationals and the Gene Mills Eastern Nationals. The tourney is a fund raiser and bears a scholarship in the name of Spohn, a terrific student-athlete who went to Columbia University.
