Masha Lange intercepted a pass near the 50 yard line and carried the ball down field before sending a cross pass to Hannah Feneberg who one timed it past the Merrimack goalie with 10:13 to play in the second half.
From there, No. 5 Timberlane held on for a 2-1 win over No. 4 Merrimack in the quarterfinals of the Division 1 tournament yesterday.
Feneberg now has 15 goals this season, two more than she scored last year.
"She's got good stick skills and when she has space she has a very hard shot," Timberlane coach Mim Ryan said.
Timberlane advanced to the semifinals where it will play No. 1 Winnacunnet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Exeter High School.
Timberlane lost 3-0 to Merrimack during the regular season.
"I think we just finished more aggressively and took advantage of our offensive opportuniites," Ryan said. "When we played them in Septepmber they beat us to every ball and we couldn't hit the ball to save our lives. And this game we were able to control the play and we were effective in using a short and long ball game."
Kati Orban made 15 saves for Timberlane.
"Carrie Dresser controlled the midfielder and Kati Orban was huge in goal," Ryan said. "She (Orban) handled every single shot and made (nice transitions) out to our defenders. She left nothing out front."
