EXETER — Defending champion Timberlane lost 3-0 to No. 1 Winnacunnet. “I think we did a good job just in getting here,” Owls coach Mim Ryan said. “We just didn’t match their effort level tonight. They were definitely the better team tonight. The better team won. They were quicker to the ball. They made the most of their offensive opportunities. We had limited opportunities and pretty much all of their players were unmarked in front of the goal. Kati (Orban) kept us in it. She had quite a number of saves.”

Masha Lange intercepted a pass near the 50 yard line and carried the ball down field before sending a cross pass to Hannah Feneberg who one timed it past the Merrimack goalie with 10:13 to play in the second half.

A dominant first half led No. 5 Timberlane to a 2-1 victory over No. 12 Londonderry in the first round of the Division 1 field hockey tourney.

"The first half was great," said Owls goal Mim Ryan. "We fell asleep a little in the second half, but finished the job."

Nicole Pacheco scored two goals for Pinkerton field hockey, which beat Timberlane 2-1 in overtime. Pacheco scored with under five minutes to go in the regulation and again in overtime.

Hannah Feneberg scored four goals to lead Timberlane field hockey to a 7-0 victory over Nashua South.

Five different players scored goals as the Timberlane field hockey (7-4) team blanked Keene 5-0.

In a matchup of two of the top field hockey teams in the state, Merrimack rolled past Timberlane 3-0. Both teams are now 6-2.
